Philodendron is photographed in a Ferry pot.
The package includes: a plant transplanted by us in a plastic pot.
About the plant:
Philodendron comes from the rainforests of Central America, Jamaica and Puerto Rico. Its name is derived from the Greek word phileo = to love and dendron = tree, because many varieties of philodendrons are climbing and can cling to trees with their aerial roots. Similarly, we can ensure this for them in domestic conditions, if we give them some support in the flowerpot, which they could also climb on, e.g. a coconut stick. It also looks great in hanging flower pots.
This particular cultivar is usually more abundantly branched than the other species and its leaves are more reminiscent of species of the Scindapsus genus . The leaves are heart-shaped, olive green with silver marbling.
It belongs to the Araceae family - so beware, it is poisonous! These plants contain calcium oxalate crystals in their tissues, which after ingestion will cause irritation of the mucous membranes of the oral cavity and digestive tract.
