About the plant:
Alocasia, or alocasia in Czech, is a genus from the Araceae family. These plants are massive herbs with a thick rhizome. Their homeland is the subtropical and tropical regions of Asia, Australia and the Pacific. This species of Alocasia cuprera Red Secret has dark red leaves with green veins. It is harder to find, so don't miss the plant. However, this beauty is quite difficult to grow, as it is sensitive to temperature, humidity and overwatering.

In Southeast Asia and Oceania, they are particularly popular for their edible rhizomes and small boiled leaves. Although in their raw state they contain calcium oxalate, which causes mucous membrane irritation and nausea, they are edible after heat treatment. At the same time, the rhizomes are also sought after by Indian and South Asian traditional medicine for their healing effects.
