Philodendron is photographed in the Charlie pot.
The package includes: a plant transplanted by us in a plastic pot.
About the plant:
Philodendrons come from the rainforests of Central and South America. Their name is derived from the Greek word phileo = to love and dendron = tree, because many varieties are climbing and can cling to trees with their aerial roots. We can ensure a similar life for them in domestic conditions as well, if we give them some support in the flowerpot, which they could also climb on, e.g. a coconut stick.
This relatively rare cultivar (sometimes also called Philodendron hastatum Silver sword ) attracts attention mainly with its unusual light green color, which has a tinge to silver. Young leaves are oval-shaped, older leaves grow into an arrow/sword shape, hence the name silver sword.
It belongs to the Araceae family - so beware, it is poisonous! These plants contain calcium oxalate crystals in their tissues, which after ingestion will cause irritation of the mucous membranes of the oral cavity and digestive tract. But if we place it in a safe place where children and pets can't reach it, its beautiful color and interesting leaves will surely catch everyone's eye.
