Chamaedorea elegans from the areca family (Czech Chamedorea sličná or areca palm) is a plant originating from Mexico and Central America. This slow-growing mountain palm belongs to the dwarfs, its height in our conditions reaches approx. 200 cm. It has elegant long leaves of a lighter green color. There are usually more of them in a pot together to form a compact shape. The plant itself takes off very slowly.

It is one of the few palms that can flower in domestic conditions, especially if it has enough light. The flower of this plant is yellow and is followed by yellow balls that fall off the plant after a few days. The plant is transplanted only when the roots fill the entire pot and climb out. The plant ranks among the plants that purify the air.
